My grandfather's Omega Seamaster had been sitting in a drawer for years with a bent hour hand and a dial that nobody wanted to touch. Azri looked at it for about ten minutes, explained exactly what the options were — including doing nothing — and I chose a careful straightening and clean. The watch came back looking like itself, not like a restored object. The written note they included was something I did not expect but have kept.

I came in for a battery replacement on a Casio and left with a proper understanding of what was going on with the movement. They replaced the cell, showed me the circuit test reading, changed the gasket and explained that the contacts had some minor corrosion they had cleaned up. All of that for RM 135. I have since sent two other pieces from the family.

The timing regulation service is worth it for anyone whose mechanical watch drifts noticeably. The printed chart they gave me showed the before and after figures and I could see the improvement clearly — not just take their word for it. The wait was four days which is reasonable. My only small note is that parking on Lebuh Pantai is a bit of a hunt on weekday mornings.

Amirah Ibrahim

Tanjung Tokong, Penang

A Citizen from the 1970s that belonged to my late father. I was nervous about it going to a workshop at all. The way Hafiz explained the process at the start — that we would decide together what to do, that the photos would document condition before anything was touched — put my mind at ease. The dial came back with the original warmth intact. Nobody tried to polish it into something it is not.

I collect watches as a hobby and have had pieces serviced in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore before. The thing that stands out here is the documentation. Most places give you back a watch and a verbal summary. Here you get a sheet that tells you the before-and-after timing readings and what was adjusted. For someone who is particular about their pieces, that kind of paper trail has genuine value.

Wong Hui Fen

Air Itam, Penang

Walked in without an appointment with a quartz dress watch that had stopped. Siti did the battery replacement and the checks while I waited — about 35 minutes including the circuit test. She noted that the coil was showing some resistance and that I should have it looked at again in a year or two. No hard sell, just information. That is a sensible way to handle a customer.

case notes

Selected repair records

case 01 — vintage dial

Challenge

1960s Seiko with tropical dial, loose minute track and two missing lume spots on the hands.

Solution

Minute track re-adhered, two lume spots on hands only filled. Dial untouched by owner's choice.

Result

Watch returned in agreed two-week window. Dial character preserved.

"The lume on the hands was the only thing that needed doing. Everything else they left alone, exactly as I had asked."

case 02 — timing

Challenge

Tudor Oysterdate losing approximately 4 minutes per day in dial-up position, better in other positions.

Solution

Six-position measurement confirmed positional weakness. Balance poised, regulator adjusted.

Result

Post-regulation variation across six positions reduced from ±180 seconds to ±12 seconds per day.

"The chart made it possible to see what had changed. I have worn the watch daily since and it has held well."

case 03 — quartz

Challenge

Seiko SQ50 with battery drain faster than expected and irregular timekeeping. Previous battery had been replaced elsewhere six months prior.

Solution

Contacts found to have developed light corrosion. Cleaned, correct cell fitted, gasket replaced, coil test completed.

Result

Watch returned the same day, timekeeping stable. Corrosion had been the cause of the shortened battery life.

"I did not realise that a battery replacement alone would not have fixed it. The contact clean was the thing that mattered."
